The NO-Spin Zone
Okay, so I am resurrecting this blog. Don't expect anything pretty, I detest both photoshop and html. Functionality is the rule of the day here. It's news headlines from feeds, plain and simple. Usually, I don't pay any attention to this blog at all, however I do pay attention to the feeds and keep the articles updated every day at all hours. In the last 10 months I've only missed two days as far as I remember, so if you want good, relevant news quickly, this is the spot for you. I maintain these headlines for friends and several sites, the blog itself is mostly a conduit, hence my inattention.
The polls are new. They aren't far off the color scheme and they're friggin' easy, so I added them. If you want to make your own, sign up and go ahead, or send me links to elsewhere polls and I'll post them. If you want to include these particular polls on your own site... Buzzdash seems screwy in the sharing link so I've put the embeds here.
The chat is a carry over from one of the previous blogs. It happened to match the new color scheme so I added it. Assume it's temporary, I'd rather something better (perhaps irc or rss enclosure based) but just havn't had time to look around for it yet. If you hate it, there's always Gably instead (strangely enough, gabbly actually seems to match color-wise to the polls - maybe it's a conspiracy?). Anyway, if you don't care for either of those, feel free to make use of the comment feature for a more semi-permanent voice.
Note on content: Some of the news spliced in here is from what some might call objectionable sources. True. I'm not advocating each article, merely pointing them out as important to peruse. In order for me to fiddle the headlines or tack my opinion on to every article, I'd have to reproduce each individually which would raise copyright and fair use issues, thus don't be alarmed if you see articles by say the Council on Foreign Relations (CFR) because it merely means there is some important informaton contaned therein that I thought you should have. Know thy enemy.
If you want this news feed, which I scavenge from about 300 sources, DO NOT AUTODETECT for it. That will only show the feed for this blog, of which this will be the only message. Use the 'Subscribe to this feed' link at the bottom of the headlines instead, or this link.
If you want to include these headlines on your site, blogger seems unfriendly towards PRE and related tags, so go here. It should pick up your own site's styles and colors accordingly. If there is interest I will post a list of the available modifiers to fiddle the look and feel of it.

TODO List: Make auto-detect for rss work, add rss buttons, make articles expandable to full content, comments per article, archives (they're all there just not displayed - issue with feedburner), chat, trackback links, submissions by both feed and e-mail.
In any case, I have a site and a blog which I've left unattended for months as well as a new multiblog to tend to, so don't expect a lot from this, as it's a backburner project. On the other hand, you have my garuntee that I will keep the news here updated and relevant on a continuous basis. The page is nothing, the content is key.
